UK Government imposes a modest increase on airline tax
December 17, 2006
UK Chancellor Gordon Brown announced that air passenger duty will increase by from £5 to £10 for flights to Spain. The increase is seen as modest by most analysts and his disappointed Green groups who were hoping for a greater "carbon tax" on airline travel. However, the decision is good news for those who have holiday homes in Spain. For overseas owners of Spanish property the likely additional annual cost is likely to be no more than 90€.
