Benidorm to get a facelift

BENIDORM'S urban development and urban scenery councillors have come up with a plan that will see all of the town's roundabouts given a makeover - starting with the one all holidaymakers see when arriving at the resort from the AP-7 toll road.

Under the plan, the 35 roundabouts will be decked out with modern sculptures to make the access routes into the town more appealing.

A council spokesman said the finance for the scheme will come from the council and, it is hoped, from private sources.

One of the companies prepared to sponsor the project is Iberdrola which has promised to give an unused electricity pylon that will go in the centre of the new roundabout on Via Parque.

The pylon will be painted in different colours and will be unique.
