Iberia may start charging for luggage

November 04, 2009

SPANISH airline Iberia is considering charging passengers for their luggage.

The announcement by Iberia comes at a time when European Airlines reveal plans to cut 2,000 jobs; Aer Lingus 676 jobs and British Airways the equivalent to 1,700 cabin crew. Spanish consumer association FACUA says that Spanish law states “the company is obliged to include both the passenger and their baggage within the price of the ticket” and said it would sue Iberia if it decides to go ahead.
