5.4m Visitors to Spain between Jan and Feb 2009

Some 5,422,132 international tourists visited Spain during the first two months of this year, down -13.1% on the same time in 2008, according to a study released by the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade (MITT).
MITT’s data revealed that Brits are still Spain’s biggest tourists, with 1,250,498 visiting the country in the first two months of this year, accounting for 23.1% of all international visitors - a drop of -22.1% y-o-y.
The Germans were the second biggest tourists in Spain (17%), with 921,828 hitting Spain’s shores between Jan – Feb, a decline of -11.1%.
French (729,658), Scandinavian (543,810) and Italian (295,239) tourists were also prominent during January and February.
