Costa Blanca tourism campaign re-launched

The Director General of the government's tourism promotion department, Turespaña, met this week with the head of tourism for Alicante Province to thrash out a plan that will see the Costa Blanca re-launched as a top tourist destination in the UK.

Antoni Bernabé of Turespaña said that he was prepared to invest two million euros to help the Costa Blanca tourism promotion campaign provided the provincial government puts up the same amount of money and the regional tourism board a further one million.

He told the head of the provincial tourism board, Gema Amor, that it was necessary to take the campaign direct to the British public because they were and still are the mainstay of the tourism sector.

Under the plan the Costa Blanca will be promoted on buses, trains, in cinemas and on billboards.
