Water levels in Spain are the highest since 1930

November 24, 2006

After a week of torrential rains in some parts of Spain, reservoirs now stand at 49 percent of their capacity, the environment ministry said on Tuesday. It is the fifth rise in the last month. Overall, water stocks in Spain have gone up 10 percent in the past month. Reservoirs are also fuller than they were at this time last year when they stood at only 43 percent capacity. In the past week, an average of 22mm of rain fell over the whole of Spain. This is higher than the average of 16mm for this time, since records began in 1930.
