Spain to attract visitors with holiday bargains
April 12, 2009
The Spanish tourism industry is set to fight the economic downturn by dropping prices this year.
Although some travel experts have predicted that holidaymakers will look to save money by shunning destinations within the Eurozone during 2009, others claim that traditional locations such as Spain and France will be the places to find real bargains.
Sarah Butler, spokesperson for Aldi Travel, said that a growing number of British holidaymakers are basing their choice of destination on "value for money".
"Saying that, the hoteliers in Spain are still going to have rooms that need filling and the bargains will still be out there for 2009," she commented.
Meanwhile, research recently carried out by Co-op Travel has revealed that non-eurozone destinations may not be as affordable as some holidaymakers are anticipating.
The study found that prices in the popular Egyptian resort of Sharm el Sheikh have increased by 17% since last year.
