Murcia tops Spanish Mortgage Table

Murcia was the region of Spain with the highest number of mortgages taken out in January 2008 per 100,000 inhabitants.

The Region of Murcia was the autonomous community that recorded the highest number of properties with mortgage taken out in the month of January per 100,000 inhabitants, according to data from the Spanish Instituto Nacional de Estadística [National Statistics Institute], whereas this figure declined when compared to the numbers from 2007 for the rest of the autonomous communities.

Specifically, there were 887 mortgages taken out on properties during January in the Region of Murcia.

Furthermore, Murcia was the region where the most changes were made to the terms and conditions of mortgages per 100,000 inhabitants.

The Region of Murcia also recorded the highest number of property purchases per 100,000 inhabitants, at 268 operations.
