The Average Mortgage in Spain Reaches 152,000 Euros

The average mortgage agreed on properties reached 152,333 Euros during the month of August, 1.6% higher than the same figure in July of 2007, according to mortgage data published by the Spanish National Statistics Institute.
In August 2007, the leant capital for property mortgages passed the 13,623 million Euro mark, 5.8% less than the figure for the same month of last year.
According to the INE, a total of 127,312 rural and urban properties were mortgaged. This represents a reduction of 9.93% from the August 2007 average.
In terms of the Region of Murcia, the survey revealed that the average mortgage for August was 130,898 Euros. A total of 4,494 mortgages were agreed during the period on rural and urban properties, 180 for rural properties and 4,314 for urban properties.
